Future Publishing
The case I made before the market agreed.
PERIOD
1999–2008 (two stints)
ROLE
Staff Writer → Production Editor → Operations Editor (.net, Digital Home)
Two stints at Future Publishing, either side of Mason Zimbler (2001–2002) – copywriter, then senior copywriter for enterprise tech clients including Oracle, SAS and Cedar Enterprise Solutions, and the real start of a 25-plus-year run in B2B content. Came back to Future as Production Editor, then Operations Editor on .net and Digital Home – every page passed through me before an editor signed it off.
While working on .net, near what turned out to be Future's revenue peak, I made the case for moving the print portfolio online. Leadership said they saw no future in it. The shift came anyway – just later, and only once the strategy changed.
