PORTFOLIO · 2026

Shaun Weston.

Head of Content & Communications · Editor-in-Chief background

25 years building B2B content functions across SaaS, fintech and trade media. Editor-in-Chief credentials at BankNXT and FoodBev.com — two publications their industries genuinely read.

I take complex products and find the human story inside them, then build the editorial systems that scale the voice without losing it. I work best embedded inside an organisation, reporting to a Marketing Director, owning content and comms strategy end to end — sole-operator capable by experience and disposition, team-lead experienced when the role calls for it.

My signature medium is podcasting. 450+ episodes across my career, at FoodBev, Backbase, ieDigital and Sorted. A podcast is the fastest way to surface the knowledge inside a technical company — it gives experts permission to speak before they write, and that's usually where the best content begins.

I work fluently with AI as a tool, not a novelty — Claude and Perplexity for drafting and research, MCP integrations through Cowork, and a working point of view on what GEO and AEO mean for content strategy as it splits between SERP and AI citation. AI is an expert writer but not always an expert reader. My job is to read on behalf of the audience, then rewrite until it lands.

II. B2B Technology · Primary clients: ieDigital, Aito · 2018–2024

Shaun Weston Media

Six years of senior contract work for B2B technology.

Primary engagement was ieDigital, the UK fintech serving credit unions and building societies. Four years end-to-end content strategy – The Shape of Money podcast, CEO thought leadership, sales enablement. 81 articles, 8 press releases, 5 case studies. Plus 15 months with Aito, the Finnish ML startup, building their English-language content programme.

At Aito, built and ran the English-language content programme as the company expanded outside the Nordics – 30+ articles translating technical ML complexity into buyer-facing prose.

Other clients across the period included Indeed, Intel, Plumery, 11:FS, 10x Banking and Genius Sports. The engagement model was the same in each case: embedded, accountable for the editorial line, working as if I were in the building.

Four years inside Future Publishing's magazine business. Operations Editor at .net during the period when the web was learning to take itself seriously, and Production Editor across multiple titles. The training ground for everything that followed.

Editorial standards under deadline pressure. Freelance commissioning, working with photographers, designers and feature writers. The standards work that made the rest of my career possible.
